Lady in the garden / Dama w ogrodzie

One of ideas I wanted to develop in my art this year is "merging". I'm fascinated by the fact that what we see (literally or not) is usually the result of different elements merged so well that it is impossible to recognize them. But when we step back in time we can see the process  and suddenly all those elements are clearly seen and we are surprised by the diversity of them and the role they played. Sounds complicated? It's not so. If the lady on the picture above looks familiar you may remember another work of mine with similar lady: Jednym z pomysłów, nad którymi chciałabym trochę popracować w tym roku, jest "przenikanie". Brzmi skomplik

Quilting in Poland / Patchwork po polsku

Once upon a time (in 2000 to be exact) a nice feature about Polish quilter has been published in "The Quilting Quarterly", the journal of American National Quilting Association. With the funny subtitle "A band of one". No, I didn't ever consider myself as the only quilter in Poland, I just didn't know any. And I put here these big pictures of this article not only to show you my early works I also want  you to read yourself what "quilting scene" in Poland looked like 16 years ago. There was no scene at all :) And now I'm writing this post while two of my works are hanging in the National Patchwork exhibition in Szczecin - . We came here with small steps. Starting with the very first, small exhibition in Kraków through Berlin to this And this is just a small part of still growing group of Polish quilters. It took 16 years from literally nothing to quite a lot - fabric shops, quilt groups, School of Patchwork, workshops, qui

Winterland / Zimowa kraina

For the first time in my life (except the childhood) I was dreaming of a real Winter. You know what I mean - white snow, a bit of frost, bright sun and crispy air. Unfortunately this dream didn't come true - it is one of the warmest Winters I can remember. So I'm very happy that I made it myself  - welcome to my Winterland! Po raz pierwszy w życiu (wyjąwszy dzieciństwo) marzyłam o prawdziwej zimie. Wiecie - śnieg, mróz, ostre słońce i trzeszczące powietrze. No cóż, to marzenie się nie spełniło - mamy chyba najcieplejszą zimę jaką pamiętam. Dlatego bardzo się cieszę, że sama sobie zrobiłam zimę - witajcie w Zimowej Krainie! I started it this past Fall and called "Winter sampler" because I wanted to try all the different ideas for Winter landscapes. Zaczęłam jesienią i roboczo nazwałam "zimowym samplerem", ponieważ chciałam wypróbować różne pomysły na przedstawienie zimowego krajobrazu. As you can see it is all hand quilted and embroidered.
