The Textile Cuisine

So I decided to try another idea for Nasturtiums. This time it was bright orange linen (which looked like a sea of Nasturtiums, hence the title) that inspired the whole idea. I just cut small bits out, replaced them with grey sky, added a leaf and here it is: No i postanowiłam spróbować nowego pomysłu na nasturcje. Tym razem zainspirował mnie pomarańczowy len (tak pomarańczowy, że wyglądał jak nasturcjowe morze, stąd tytuł). Wycięłam w nim małe kawałki na niebo, dodałam zielony liść i oto efekt:  But the idea as simple as it sounds demanded some serious thinking during execution. And this gave me plenty of time to take the pictures to show the whole process. It started with simple thread drawing flowers' shapes. Ale o ile pomysł prosty to jego wykonanie wymagało dużo namysłu. Dzięki temu miałam mnóstwo czasu na fotografowanie każdego kroku. Zaczęłam od "narysowania" nitką kilku prostych kwiatków. They look "puffy" but this is just how linen acted to

The market is ready for handwork. Rynek gotowy do ręcznej robótki. The apples are in the handwork process already. Jabłka już są w "ręcznej robótce". Which one will be finished first? Kto pierwszy na mecie?

The machine-part of the market is coming to the end. Now I'm working on the frame and when it is done I will add the binding. Maszynowa część pracy nad rynkiem zbliża się do końca. Teraz pracuję nad ramą, a po niej wykończę brzegi. After washing, the handwork starts. Po praniu przyjdzie czas haftów i innych uzupełnień ręcznych.

The first layer of veggies on my stalk is done. Now it is time for the smaller ones to fill the gaps. Pierwsza warstwa warzywek na moim straganie gotowa. Teraz czas na mniejsze, które wypełnią wolne miejsca. It's going to be a bit tricky to find the proper size and color and to put it on the right place but this is what makes the process interesting, right? Trzeba będzie się dobrze nagimnastykować, żeby znaleźć odpowiedni rozmiar i kolor i umieścić we właściwym miejscu, ale to właśnie czyni cały proces tak ciekawym, czyż nie? Unfortunately my market had to rest for a moment because I was busy with motherhood :) Niestety, rynek musiał sobie przez chwilę odpocząć ponieważ pochłonęło mnie macierzyństwo :) And a birch :) I brzoza :) But now I'm back in the saddle :) Ale już do niego wracam :)

The "floor" is finished! "Podłoga" skończona! And I started to thinking about the frame :) I zaczęłam już myśleć o ramce :)

Short break doesn't mean neglecting. Still quilting. Krótka przerwa nie oznacza lekceważenia. Nadal pikuję.

I wanted to change somehow the sky. First I tried embroidering with white thread but it didn't work. So I decided to use my "magic clouds" - silk caps. Now it is almost invisible, like a white foggy clouds. But it adds this white touch and will be even better after washing. Koniecznie chciałam zmienić jakoś to niebo. Najpierw próbowałam podhaftować białą nitką, ale było źle. Więc postanowiłam użyć moich "magicznych chmurek" - mam taki jedwab w postaci waty. Teraz jest prawie niewidoczny, jak taka chmurka z białej mgiełki. Ale rozbiela i po praniu będzie jeszcze lepiej. So I changed also the second part of the fence, to make all the upper part lighter. Zmieniłam też drugą część ogrodzenia, żeby ta górna część stała się lżejsza. But the best part came when one of my dear readers, Anna, asked if it is too late to add the tree. This got me thinking... Where to add the tree and what for? Suddenly I knew - behind the fence! What a great idea and what a pity it wasn

You see it? I've added golden straws to the hen house's roof. I'm very proud of myself because now it really looks less dull (mining it is in the centre). Widzicie to? Dodałam złote słomki do dachu kurnika. Bardzo jestem z siebie dumna, bo zrobiła się zdecydowanie mniej ponury (co, jak na centralny punkt, ma znaczenie). Added also some new flowers. It is very difficult to find the proper colour for the flowers to make this piece more vibrant. But there's some hope in amber beads I'm going to add too. As for now it looks like this: Dodałam też kilka kwiatków. Nie moge jakoś znaleźć dobrych, ożywiających kolorów dla tych kwiatów. Ale wiążę pewne nadzieje z bursztynowymi koralikami.
