Under the mushrooms' sun / Pod grzybowym słońcem

Image
Yes, the weather here is beautiful. And the mushrooms keep me busy in the kitchen. Tak, pogodę tutaj mamy piękną. A sezon grzybowy nie wypuszcza z kuchni. We eat them fresh and the challange is to find all the ways for different mushroom courses. The picture above is of a nice (and yummy) pickled one, bought at the local market. Na zdjęciu powyżej prześliczny (i przepyszny) grzybek kwaszony, kupiony na rynku.   Do you remember her ? Now she helps me to develop some idea I was dreaming from a long time. Yes, I'd like to have some images of my works printed on textiles for everyday use. I was doing this some years ago so now it's time to check new technologies in that matter. I think that the first try isn't bad. At least I know what should be changed to make it better :) Tak, chciałabym mie

Modern medieval illumination / Nowoczesna iluminacja średniowieczna

Image
Yes, you know that I'm interested in medieval art. But what you don't know is that the art above comes from XX century. And was created by the artist from my very own city, Lodz. The name of the artist is Artur Szyk. Worldwide known artist, totally unknown here. He was a Polish Jew born in 1894 in Lodz. You can read about his interesting life HERE and see some more of his art HERE . For me, the most fascinating in Szyk's art is the way he used "medieval language" - illumination to talk about contemporary problems. And the problems he was concerned the most were the serious ones. Artsyta nazywa sie Artur Szyk. Światowej sławy, u nas praktycznie nieznany. Był polskim Żydem urodzonym w 1894 roku w Łodzi. Więcej o jego ciekawym życiu można przeczytać TUTAJ , a

Do you still remember me? / Pamiętacie mnie jeszcze?

Yes, I know, It's been a long time....... Some of you already worried if I'm ok. Thanks for this, I'm fine (and a small flu I'm going through right now doesn't count), but I'm verrrrrry busy. Mostly with the teapots, hens and things like this. Głównie czajniczkami, kurami i takimi tam. Not a lot time left for art per se. But I miss it. So on Friday I took some time off and went to our beloved Central Museum of Textiles for the opening of new exhibition "Just fabric?", but in fact, I went there to take a breath of fresh air/art. I loved  the exhibition and felt that I just have to create something, just for a good health :) Na sztukę jako taką czasu właściwie nie starcza. Ale brakuje mi jej. Więc w

How to make a bracelet? / Jak zrobić bransoletkę?

Image
I start with too much precious scraps I just don't want to throw out. I organize them and glue with the iron to fliseline. Then I sew them randomly just for security. This way I have one piece of a "fabric". Just to add some batting and to back it with a piece of cotton. Dodaję ocieplinę i bawełniany spód. Now I quilt it but not as a regular quilt - it is rather to keep the layers together and to secure most of fraying edges: Teraz pikuję, ale tylko tak delikatnie, żeby warstwy się nie rozjeżdżały i żeby ograniczyć strzępienie:   Now, as I have the "content" I can divide it into as many bracelets as I want: Teraz, jak mam już "treść", mogę ją podzielić na tyle bransoletek na ile chcę:

Autumn??? / Jesień???

Image
Oh no, I'm not done with summer yet :( But there has to be something in the air, because the idea of this little curtain just came to my mind bright and clear. I think it is rather charming (if I say so myself) so I wanted to make another one immediately :) Uważam, że jest urocza (jeśli sama mogę tak powiedzieć), więc od razu chciałam zrobić następną :) Both of them are on etsy now and I'm working on another one :) When you visit my shop you may notice another news - bracelets, but I will tell you more about them in separate post. And now let me show you something totally different: Obie są teraz na etsy , a ja pracuję nad następną :) Jeżeli odwiedzacie mój sklep prawdopodobnie zauważyłyście inną nowość - bransoletki, ale o nich opowiem więcej w osobnym poście. A teraz pokażę Wam coś zupełnie innego: For my Polish readers it&

And now some hens again... / A teraz znowu kury...

Image
Before I tell you more about my new hens I have some news to share :) First of all I have to thank Makneta for the award she was kind enough to give to me. Her plate is really full and I'm always surprised when she finds time to make her great knitting creations, to blog and to be such a nice, smiled person. Thank you, Makneta! Another news is an interview with me in an online magazine GALO - you can read it here and I hope you will like it as much as I do :) Working on this with Emily Crawford Misztal was a real pleasure. Big thanks go to her from the bottom of my heart! A druga nowina to wywiad

Magnetic post / Notka magnetyczna

Image
Thanks for your kind words about my raspberries. As you can see, I'm not done with them yet :) To be honest, I wanted to make a raspberry magnet but when it looked more like tomato I gave up. Then came this raspberry tea, teapot magnet. And the best part is on the back: Bardzo dziękuję za miłe słowa  o malinach. No to chociaż herbatka malinowa w magnesowym dzbanuszku. A najlepszy jest tył: Yes, no glue! And now it looks like collection: Tak, tak, bez kleju! No i mam już kolekcję:   I have another magnet to show but there's a story behind. Some days ago I was contacted by Abigail Thomas who made a cute post about my works on her blog . When I was looking through her pictures (on flickr, probably) I saw one with fancy cut watermelon. This gave me an idea for watermelon magnet, but now, I can't find this p
