The Textile Cuisine

My latest workshop was about growing the textile garden. As the idea came from my own garden artwork (see the story of it HERE ), Jak pamiętacie, na ostatnich zajęciach w Szkole Patchworku szyłyśmy ogrody. Ponieważ inspiracją była moja konkretna praca ogrodowa (opowiadałam o niej TUTAJ ), every student received a seed as a starting point for their own garden. The results can be seen below. None of the gardens was finished. When the work started, ideas were just popping out and everybody wanted to make the full beautiful garden, not just an exercising piece. I was lucky this year to spend a few days in Tatra's mountains watching the start of Spring. As you can see, I took them with me. Miałam szczęście w tym roku spędzić kilka dni w Tatrach obserwując nadejście wiosny w górach. Jak widać, przywiozłam je ze sobą.  You may guess that I like mountains :) I love them any time of year but probably have never seen them waking up after the winter. Jak się zapewne domyślacie, uwielbiam góry :) O każdej porze roku, ale chyba po raz pierwszy widziałam jak się budzą z zimowego snu. The air was crispy, but the sun was already high so the leftovers of snow were melting fast and first greens were already present.  Powietrze było jeszcze rześkie, ale słońce wysoko, więc resztki śniegu szybko topniały, a hale były już zielone. And water from countless streams was running like a crazy. That's why I decided to give it some more space in my artwork. What started from the handout of beads... No i woda w niezliczonych stru

Just a short note today to let you know that May keeps me busy. As you can see I had to prepare some seeds to plant tomorrow at the School of Patchwork - we'll be growing textile gardens! Can't wait to see what my students will do with them. Dzisiaj krótka notka - dużo się dzieje w tym maju. Jak widzicie, musiałam przygotować zestaw nasion na jutrzejsze zajęcia w Szkole Patchworku - będziemy zakładać tekstylne ogrody! Nie mogę się doczekać, żeby zobaczyć co wyrośnie moim studentkom. Beside getting ready for teaching I'm stitching new castles (yes!) and... the landscape :) Poza przygotowaniem do zajęć szyję nowe zamki (tak, tak!) i... taki pejzaż :) And there are also new prints HERE :) Są też nowe druki TUTAJ :) I keep adding them pretty often, follow my Pinterest board "textile art in prints" to stay up to date! No, it isn't a new castle inspired by my short vacations. In fact, the castle is rather old and you may know it very well. Nie, to nie jest nowy zamek inspirowany moim krótkim urlopem. Zamek jest stary i pewnie go dobrze znacie.  It happens quite often that I use castles as the element of Medieval landscapes. But some weeks ago I was asked to make a small artwork with the castle as the main and only thing. My customer knew very well what she wanted and was very specific about the details. It was quite a challenge for me to be sure that I get her correctly. So it took many emails and pictures exchanges, many questions and answers and... many ideas for castle art were born as a side projects. My customer wanted her castle for the boy's room. This gave me the first impuls to invent a castle for the girl's room :) Często używam zamków jako elementu średniowiecznego krajobrazu.  Don't worry - it's not my accomplishment from this week :) In fact, it is rather old artwork of mine, no longer in my possession, which I visited recently. And frankly speaking, here you see the best part. The (almost) whole piece looks like this: Spokojnie, to nie jest efekt mojej pracy z tego tygodnia :) Tak naprawdę to jedna z moich starszych prac, której już nie mam, ale ostatnio odwiedziłam. I, szczerze mówiąc, to najlepszy jej fragment. Cała (prawie) wygląda tak: Today I would add some more quilting lines here and there :) But I'm really impressed by the many different flowers - they are hand appliqued with silk ribbons and some decorative embroidery stitches. Dzisiaj jednak podpikowałabym ją jeszcze tu i tam :) Ale jestem pod wrażeniem tej różnorodności kwiatków - wszystkie ręcznie aplikowane z jedwabnych wstążeczek i dekorowane haftem. Do you remember my mysterious "Old Garden" ? Now I call it finished! Next time when I start something like this, please remind me that it is not the fastest kind of work :) Pamiętacie mój tajemniczy "Stary Ogród" ? Uważam go za skończony! A następnym razem, jak się wezmę za coś takiego, przypomnijcie mi proszę, że to nie jest ekspresowa robótka :) But I have to confess - I love it! And I'm really glad that I made it. Ale przyznaję - uwielbiam go! I bardzo się cieszę, że zrobiłam coś takiego. I'm going to frame it professionally and put on a honorable place on the wall. With the pieces like this it is impossible to sell it - there's no money I would prefer to keep instead of this magical garden. It's not just the matter of the amount of time spent on this. It is more about my thoughts, some ideas and their execution, it is so much "me". Mam zamiar dać go do oprawy, a potem powiesić na honorowym miejscu. Takie rzeczy nie nada
