Raspberry Hills / Malinowe wzgórza

Image
So the raspberries aren't that shining but they seem rather strong and powerful (and a bit patriotic considering these are the colors of Polish flag). Another kitchen landscape completed. And I thought it is a good occasion to reveal some details of the whole concept. As you know, I take the pictures of actual foods/veggies and I show them along the textile works. For example, the picture of blueberries and blackberries looked like this: Kolejny pejzaż kuchenny do kolekcji. Na przykład moje jagody i jeżyny wyglądały tak: Sometimes I make the artwork exactly the same as picture, sometimes differently. What I find interesting is the fact that the first is the kitchen "scene"

Urban landscapes / Pejzaż miejski

I'm a city girl so as much as I love nature, I can see the poetry in urban landscapes too. My "Sunrise in the city" has nothing in common with my city, but a lot with a moment when the first rays of light start jumping through the big, grey buildings. I love this very beginning of the day so this piece is, sort of, the sum of all the urban sunrises I've experienced. Uwielbiam ten prapoczątek dnia i, w pewnym sensie, ta praca stanowi sumę wszystkich moich miejskich poranków. And the best part is that every morning, no matter the weather, there's always this magical moment of pink light. Yes, even grey days start with a minute of pal

Kitchen landscapes revisited / Kuchenne krajobrazy raz jeszcze

I'm afraid that I totally neglected my kitchen this summer. I mean textile kitchen of course. But I missed it terribly and collected some yummy ideas to stitch and... this "Summer breakfast" is the only kitchen related piece I managed to complete. I'm not sure if it is well balanced breakfast but these are the ingredients which came to my mind while thinking about fresh and crispy morning table. Some of you may remember another artwork based on the same concept - see it HERE . This time instead of long veggies I went for cutlery :) Nie jestem pewna, czy to dobrze zrównoważone śniadanie, ale takie właśnie składniki przyszły mi na myśl o świeżym, letnim porannym stole. Kiedyś już uszyłam podobny krajobraz - zobac

Concerto grosso / Concerto grosso

The roots of this art quilt are deep in my artistic past. Let's say roughly 20 years ago I made a piece which now is only in a fragment: Korzenie mojej najnowszej makatki sięgają zamierzchłej przeszłości. Lekko licząc 20 lat temu uszyłam obrazek, z którego został już tylko kawałek: Back then I was a young mother of a little daughter, saying "good bye" to paper dolls (my eternal love) and "welcome" to the real dresses for a real doll. Officially I was mastering my hand applique skills, but subconsciously I saw a bigger thing - the beginning of a big concert to play. I wasn

Nasturtium's Sea / Nasturcjowe Morze

So I decided to try another idea for Nasturtiums. This time it was bright orange linen (which looked like a sea of Nasturtiums, hence the title) that inspired the whole idea. I just cut small bits out, replaced them with grey sky, added a leaf and here it is: No i postanowiłam spróbować nowego pomysłu na nasturcje. Wycięłam w nim małe kawałki na niebo, dodałam zielony liść i oto efekt:  But the idea as simple as it sounds demanded some serious thinking during execution. And this gave me plenty of time to take the pictures to show the whole process. It started with simple thread drawing flowers' shapes. They look "puffy" but this is just how linen acted to
