The Textile Cuisine

I'm afraid that I totally neglected my kitchen this summer. I mean textile kitchen of course. But I missed it terribly and collected some yummy ideas to stitch and... this "Summer breakfast" is the only kitchen related piece I managed to complete. Wygląda na to, że tego lata zupełnie zlekceważyłam tematy kuchenne. W sensie szycia oczywiście. Bardzo się za nimi stęskniłam i już mam zgromadzone mnóstwo nowych, apetycznych pomysłów i... jak na razie uszyłam tylko takie "Letnie śniadanie". I'm not sure if it is well balanced breakfast but these are the ingredients which came to my mind while thinking about fresh and crispy morning table. The roots of this art quilt are deep in my artistic past. Let's say roughly 20 years ago I made a piece which now is only in a fragment: Korzenie mojej najnowszej makatki sięgają zamierzchłej przeszłości. Lekko licząc 20 lat temu uszyłam obrazek, z którego został już tylko kawałek: Back then I was a young mother of a little daughter, saying "good bye" to paper dolls (my eternal love) and "welcome" to the real dresses for a real doll. Officially I was mastering my hand applique skills, but subconsciously I saw a bigger thing - the beginning of a big concert to play. Byłam wtedy młodą mamą małej córeczki i w ten sposób żegnałam się z życiową pasją ubierania papierowych laleczek (we własnej produkcji papierowe kiecki), a witałam świat prawdziwych sukienek dla żywej lalki. So I decided to try another idea for Nasturtiums. This time it was bright orange linen (which looked like a sea of Nasturtiums, hence the title) that inspired the whole idea. I just cut small bits out, replaced them with grey sky, added a leaf and here it is: No i postanowiłam spróbować nowego pomysłu na nasturcje. Tym razem zainspirował mnie pomarańczowy len (tak pomarańczowy, że wyglądał jak nasturcjowe morze, stąd tytuł). As you can see the heat wave kept me away from the blog. But it gave me some space for slow stitching and thinking. And while coming back to my blog after the break it dawned on me that I didn't show you the projects mentioned at the start but not when completed. Let's take for example the biggest one - "Red garden". Jak widzicie fala upałów skutecznie powstrzymała mnie od blogowania. Ale też dała trochę więcej miejsca na spokojne, powolne szycie i myślenie. No i uświadomiłam sobie, że mam różne projekty o których rozpoczęciu pisałam, a skończonych nie pokazałam. Na przykład ten największy - "Czerwony ogród". I'm very happy that more and more people see my hen & rooster couples as a perfect depiction of the couple in love. This makes working on these simple wall hangings even more fun.
